Job Description

This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of school facilities. The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work closely with the maintenance team to support the preservation and enhancement of the premises.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduled and responsive repairs, minimizing disruptions to daily activities
  • Set up and pack down events, guaranteeing smooth transitions
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of tools and supplies
  • Perform minor repairs on College property, prioritizing safety and efficiency
Accountabilities
  • Demonstrate Christian servant leadership with staff, students, parents, and the wider community
  • Exercise Christian principles in all activities, reflecting the College's vision and mission
  • Perform day-to-day duties prayerfully, consistently aligning with a Biblical lifestyle
  • Maintain open communication channels with stakeholders
General Maintenance & Repairs
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on school buildings, classrooms, and facilities, adhering to WHS regulations
  • Inspect and repair doors, windows, locks, and fixtures, ensuring seamless functionality
  • Patch and paint walls, ceilings, and surfaces as needed, maintaining a high standard of appearance
  • Fix minor plumbing issues, addressing them promptly to avoid complications
  • Maintain and repair school furniture, promoting a safe and comfortable learning environment
  • Timely completion of scheduled maintenance tasks, minimizing downtime
  • Minimal disruption to school activities, guaranteeing continuity
  • Repairs completed effectively and safely, adhering to industry standards
  • Positive feedback from staff and students, reflecting excellent service
Grounds & Outdoor Maintenance
  • Maintain school grounds, ensuring they are clean, safe, and presentable, fostering a positive atmosphere
  • Conduct landscaping tasks, enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the surroundings
  • Maintain outdoor play equipment, guaranteeing its integrity and usability
  • Repair and maintain pathways, driveways, and external structures, preventing damage and wear
  • Clean and maintain gutters, drains, and downpipes, protecting against water damage
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling temporary structures, facilitating smooth event execution
Safety & Compliance
  • Conduct routine safety checks and inspections, identifying potential hazards and taking corrective action
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with WHS regulations, safeguarding the well-being of staff and students
  • Identify and report hazards, fostering a culture of safety awareness
  • Secure hazardous tools and materials, preventing accidents and injuries
Equipment & Resource Management
  • Maintain tools, machinery, and school maintenance equipment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity
  • Order and restock maintenance supplies, preventing stockouts and delays
  • Maintain an inventory of maintenance tools and materials, optimizing resource allocation
  • Liaise with external contractors, coordinating services and ensuring quality delivery
Event & Logistics Support
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment for events, guaranteeing efficient logistics
  • Move and arrange furniture as needed, supporting event planning and execution
  • Support staff with basic technical issues, providing timely assistance
Emergency & Ad-Hoc Repairs
  • Respond promptly to urgent maintenance issues, addressing them swiftly to prevent further complications
  • Address emergency repairs, restoring normal operations as quickly as possible
  • Ensure a quick and efficient resolution to unexpected maintenance problems, minimizing downtime
