Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to take on a leadership role as the Nurse Unit Manager for Orthopaedics and Plastics. This position offers a unique opportunity to lead a team, drive quality improvement initiatives, and promote action research to enhance clinical practices.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care and support to patients undergoing orthopaedic and plastic surgeries. They will work closely with patients, their families, and healthcare teams to ensure exceptional outcomes and holistic care.

In this leadership position, you will have the opportunity to drive professional development within the team, initiate quality improvement initiatives, and promote action research to enhance clinical practices. You will also mentor and guide nursing staff, lead projects, and support education to improve patient and service outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial support, education, advocacy, and expert clinical care to patients undergoing surgery
  • Foster a comprehensive hospital-wide nursing service and promote collaboration and communication among healthcare teams
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and promote action research to enhance clinical practices
  • Mentor and guide nursing staff, lead projects, and support education to improve patient and service outcomes
Requirements
  • Leadership skills with ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and negotiate with multidisciplinary teams
  • At least 3 years post-registration experience in nursing or midwifery with expertise in practice area and supervising less experienced staff
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and implement change, fostering a flexible, innovative, and supportive workplace culture
  • Experience in leading consumer engagement initiatives, promoting collaboration and improving service delivery

Estimated Salary

$121,537 - $126,970 p.a., plus superannuation and salary packaging
