Job Role:

The Underwriting Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Underwriters within their line of business, ensuring timely requests for quotes, name clearance, and accurate binding of quotes.

Main duties include efficiently serving local produced accounts, maintaining compliance with policies, and providing support to Underwriters by obtaining client information and completing administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the offshore team to ensure prompt handling of requests and quotes
  • Engage proactively with Underwriting to ensure an efficient account handover for accounts, ensuring all received information is understood and complete for processing/policies
  • Implement system procedures and create instruction documents, ensuring related data is accurate for instructing local policy details
  • Maintain accurate documentation of files handled by the role holder
  • Ensure correct premium, commission, and tax bookings in processing systems
  • Monitor implementation progress and liaise with local staff to resolve queries
  • Implement mid-term endorsements, issue certificates of insurance, and focus on premium collection monitoring according to processing rules and guidelines
  • Address client/broker requests promptly and refer to Underwriters when necessary
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of systems and processes, staying up-to-date with new guidelines published
  • Maintain data quality accuracy ratios at defined levels/metrics

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in insurance is highly advantageous, especially in corporate organisations
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Great time management skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a virtual team and develop productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Continuous Improvement Focused: willing to ask questions and explore new ideas
  • Results Oriented: approaching tasks proactively and anticipating needs
