Africa diaspora scholarship opportunities

We are seeking a talented researcher to join our team and explore the experiences of African communities in Australia, focusing on their engagement with Pentecostal churches.
Project Overview:
- Conduct ethnographic research with Pentecostal churches in Australia and African Diasporas to investigate challenges faced by African-Australian communities
- Determine why members join Pentecostal churches and examine how these churches support translocal and transnational mobility
- Examine the impact of megachurches on Australian cities' social landscapes and contribute to policy efforts improving outcomes for new arrivals
Research Methodology:
- Develop and implement an ethnographic research plan to investigate questions such as:
- How do Pentecostal churches support/hinder settlement and integration?
- What impact does this have on Australian cities' social landscapes?
Requirements:
- Background in anthropology, sociology, religious studies, or a related field with strong interests in migration and religion
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Applications from students of African heritage are especially welcomed
