Technical Site Supervisor Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Technical Site Supervisor to join our Engineering Services business in a Makerspace Site based in Townsville. This unique position involves working with both the Project Manager and local unit innovation representatives to deliver the Army Makerspace Program.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the day-to-day operation of the Makerspace, including maintenance, machine readiness, housekeeping, and health and safety management.
  • Manage client inductions and technical training, including coordination and delivery.
  • Administer and implement safety systems.
  • Manage equipment and consumables.
  • Support and guide local innovation activities and events.
  • Develop site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Collect and report facility and equipment usage data.
  • Assist users in developing creative problem-solving and ideation skills.
  • Consult with users to identify project support requirements.
  • Develop a technical support plan with the user and Makerspace support network.
  • Set up and run makerspace operational processes to deliver on unit innovation and experimentation goals.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and project problems, reporting to the appropriate stakeholder or taking action as necessary.
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of technical trades experience in Electronics, IT, Electrical, Fitter machinist, or Mechanical.
  • Experience working on design and prototyping unique solutions or low-rate production runs.
  • Experience with Laser CNC, 3D printing, PCB printing, VR/AR development, software programmable kits, smart applications, and general prototyping.
  • Ability to coach and mentor users to achieve project requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the operation of fabrication machines and associated software.
  • Ability to research and select off-the-shelf software solutions to make timely project recommendations.
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence security clearance.
