Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Developmental Educator to join our team at Everyday Independence. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with participants and their support networks to develop new skills, challenge barriers, and empower individuals to live fulfilling lives.

About the Role

This is an ongoing, full-time or part-time position (minimum 4 days per week) offering a competitive salary of $83,582 - $100,342, inclusive of annual leave loading and superannuation. The location for this role is in North Western Sydney.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments using evidence-based tools and work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide wraparound supports for participants and their families.
  • Develop and implement person-centered plans to enhance capacity building, problem-solving, and empowerment of individuals with disabilities.
  • Promote social model therapy principles and work towards removing barriers that prevent participants from engaging with their local community and the wider world.
  • Champion effective communication, empathy, and understanding while being open and non-judgmental in your approach.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, including participants, families, and support teams, to ensure cohesive and responsive support services.

Your Qualifications and Skills

  • A Bachelor or Master's degree in Disability (or equivalent) and eligibility to be a member of the DEAI (membership required upon commencement).
  • Ability to submit a suitability assessment and obtain Behaviour Support Practitioner status from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (evidence of letter required).
  • Passion for advocacy and removal of barriers using social model therapy principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to empowering individuals with disabilities and promoting inclusion.
