Learning Support Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Learning Support Worker to join our team at Box Hill Institute. As a Learning Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disability and/or a health condition to participate, interact, learn, and work towards positive educational outcomes.
You will work closely with educational delivery staff, students, and other support services to provide individualized support and accommodations to students with diverse needs. Your role will involve assisting students with reading, communication, participation, and other study aids, as well as providing access to internal services and facilities.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting students with disability and has a strong understanding of the values and legislative framework that inform quality disability support services in an educational setting. About You- Certificate III in Education Support (Integration Aide/Teacher Aide), a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or a Certificate IV in Disability is preferred and/or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2), Mental Health First Aid training and Safe Food Handling Certificate is desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, the needs of people with disability and of the values and legislative framework that inform quality disability support services in an educational setting
- An understanding of how to support students in a professional and respectful manner
- Listens to students and actively seeks to meet their needs. Seeks ways to improve service delivery to meet individual needs and is committed to delivering high quality outcomes for students
- Communicates well with, relates to and sees issues from the perspective of people from a diverse range of cultures, backgrounds and abilities. Pays attention to words, expressions and body language, paraphrases to check understanding and shapes responses based on a range of information
- Committed to the public interest and operating in a manner that is consistent with the BHI Code of Conduct. Inspires trust by treating all individuals fairly, with the ability to work within ethical guidelines and maintain strong professional boundaries whilst working with minimum supervision
