Student Wellbeing Officer

The Student Wellbeing Officer is a vital position within the Student Life team at Box Hill Institute. This part-time role is based at our Nelson Road Campus in Box Hill and involves providing a range of support, welfare, and intervention services to underpin the success of our students.
The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, managers, administrative staff, parents, and other Student Life team members to improve student retention and success. They will respond to students at risk of disengagement from education, addressing mental health, life, relationship, financial, or welfare difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual support and liaison to students, addressing their specific needs and concerns.
- Develop and deliver intervention programs to support students at risk of disengagement.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve student retention and success.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legislative requirements.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work, Counselling, or equivalent.
- Eligibility for membership with relevant professional association (desirable but not essential).
- Demonstrated experience in working with vulnerable student groups, providing counselling, welfare, or similar support.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and consult with senior Student Life staff as required.
