Program Overview
Workskil Australia Ltd is excited to announce the launch of the Parent Pathways Program, a free pre-employment program designed to support parents and guardians of young children in building skills and confidence, and preparing for the workforce.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Parent Mentor to join our team and provide person-centred case management to eligible parents, addressing their vocational and non-vocational needs. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and trauma awareness, with the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of parents, employers, education and community service providers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred case management to eligible parents, addressing their vocational and non-vocational needs.
- Support parents' aspirations through tailored expertise and referring parents to internal and external services for further support where required.
- Engage with community organisations to develop strong opportunities for parents.
- Practice an empathetic approach towards parents and their circumstances to help build trusted relationships and achieve positive outcomes.
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills.
- Empathy and trauma awareness.
- Ability to effectively work with a culturally diverse range of parents, employers, education and community service providers, and staff.
- Excellent writing skills to write resumes, cover letters, assessments, referrals, and case notes.
- Strong Labour Market knowledge.
- A minimum Certificate III in a relevant field (including Social Work, Community Services, Education, Early Childhood Education and Care, Health or Society and Culture) or Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development or demonstrated equivalent experience and willingness to work towards a relevant Certificate III or IV qualification.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be assessed on their ability to provide person-centred case management, support parents' aspirations, engage with community organisations, and practice an empathetic approach towards parents and their circumstances. A Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and Working Rights Check will also be required for successful applicants.
