About the Job
We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Advisor to join our team and play a key role in delivering high standards of environmental performance across our operational site.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing environmental risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading the implementation of environmental programs and systems. You'll provide expert advice to internal stakeholders, support incident investigations, manage contractors, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in line with our sustainability objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Environmental Objectives: Develop and implement strategies to achieve high standards of environmental performance.
- Maintain Environmental Management System (EMS): Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of EMS to guarantee regulatory compliance.
- Identify and Manage Environmental Risks: Identify potential environmental risks and develop control measures to mitigate them.
- Ensure Timely Completion of Reporting: Complete internal and external reporting in a timely manner.
- Monitor Compliance: Regularly monitor compliance with environmental regulations and laws.
- Provide Expert Advice: Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Lead Incident Investigations: Lead incident investigations and support external reviews.
- Manage Contractors: Manage environmental contractors, consultants, and budgets.
- Deliver Environmental Training: Deliver environmental training and awareness programs.
- Participate in Audits: Participate in audits, reviews, and assurance activities.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent is essential.
- 2 years of coal mining experience - preferably in Queensland - is also essential.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance, and best practice management systems is required.
- Demonstrated experience in managing environmental incidents, reporting, and corrective action processes is desired.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage budgets, contractors, and multiple reporting streams is an asset.
