Fitzroy Australia Resources is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects. In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut, and we also have our new underground longwall mine at Ironbark No.1.

About the role

We are seeking Senior Environmental Advisor to join our team and play a key role in delivering high standards of environmental performance across our operational site. In this role, you will be responsible for managing environmental risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading the implementation of environmental programs and systems. You'll provide expert advice to internal stakeholders, support incident investigations, manage contractors, and drive continuous improvement initiatives in line with our sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities include

• Drive site environmental objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and implement the Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Identify environmental risks and ensure effective control measures.
• Ensure timely completion of internal and external reporting.
• Monitor compliance and lead preventative and corrective actions.
• Provide expert advice to internal stakeholders on environmental matters.
• Lead incident investigations and support external incident reviews.
• Manage environmental contractors, consultants, and budgets.
• Deliver environmental training and awareness programs.
• Participate in audits, reviews, and assurance activities.

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or equivalent (Essential)
• 2 years of coal mining experience - preferably in Queensland (Essential)
• Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation, compliance, and best practice management systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing environmental incidents, reporting, and corrective action processes.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage budgets, contractors, and multiple reporting streams.
