Senior Community Engagement Officer

About The Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Community Engagement Officer to join our team in Geelong.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Community Engagement: Design and facilitate best-practice community engagement solutions in line with department strategy and plans, ensuring effective stakeholder participation and relationship-building across the city.
  • Expertise and Influence: Provide subject matter expertise to lead and influence community engagement practices across the city, leveraging your experience and skills to drive organisational excellence.
  • Project Delivery: Support, oversee, and implement organisational engagement projects with a strategic and risk lens, fostering collaboration and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Promotion and Integration: Lead the promotion and integration of the City's Community Engagement Policy across the organisation and within the community, enhancing relationships and driving engagement efforts.
  • Partnerships and Planning: Partner with teams across the organisation to identify and plan upcoming community engagements, ensuring they are scheduled and delivered at the right time for the best outcomes, and actively engaging stakeholders in the process.

About You

  • The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience in Community Engagement—ideally within Local Government or the Not-for-Profit sector—and demonstrate a deep understanding of inclusive engagement techniques, relationship-building, and stakeholder management.
  • You will be confident working with people from all walks of life, skilled in facilitation and analysis, and thrive on building meaningful relationships with stakeholders and community members, navigating complex issues and driving solutions.

Essential Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualification in a business, strategy, project management, engagement, or related discipline.
  • Professional Experience: Significant professional experience in community engagement in a comparable organisation, showcasing your ability to drive change and deliver results.
