Job Title: Principal Consultant - Secondary Curriculum and Assessment (Science)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Consultant to join our team in the School Curriculum and Standards Division. As a Principal Consultant, you will play a key role in managing and providing leadership for the development and review of curriculum, assessment, and standards support materials in the area of Science for Years 7-12.

The Role

As a Principal Consultant, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing and providing leadership for the development and review of curriculum, assessment, and standards support materials in the area of Science for Years 7-12.
  • Facilitating consultation and collaborative processes between school systems/sector, schools, and other stakeholder organisations to share ideas and devise common approaches on the implementation of the Authority's policies and procedures.
  • Managing contract writers and associated physical resources, if required, in a manner which meets legislated requirements and provides executive support for advisory committees when required.
  • Providing high-level advice, correspondence, and briefings to the Minister, the Board, the Executive Director, education systems, and sector as required.
  • Developing and implementing moderation processes for the secondary years of schooling and organising, facilitating, and coordinating seminars, school visits, and information sessions for staff from schools, regions, professional associations, systems, and sectors as required.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
  • Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
