About the Role

The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications (EE&T) within the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW is seeking a dedicated academic for a position focused on both teaching and research in Electrical Engineering. This role offers the chance to cultivate your own research initiatives while also engaging in the instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Responsibilities include delivering lectures, creating and implementing educational activities, and contributing to high-caliber research, either collaboratively or independently.

This position is ideal for an emerging academic eager to establish a robust foundation for a career in higher education. The Associate Lecturer/Lecturer will report directly to the Head of School and will not have any direct reports.

Compensation
  1. Associate Lecturer (Level A): AUD $110,059 to $117,718 per annum + 17% superannuation
  2. Lecturer (Level B): AUD $123,620 to $145,730 per annum + 17% superannuation

Qualifications and Skills

For Associate Lecturer (Level A):

  1. A PhD in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  2. Commitment to remaining informed about advancements in the discipline.
  3. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and curriculum development at various academic levels.
  4. Familiarity with educational technologies and online teaching methodologies.
  5. Ability to engage students and promote independent learning through effective assessment and feedback.
  6. Willingness to pursue professional development in teaching practices.
  7. Capability to support and motivate students from diverse backgrounds, promoting equity and inclusion.
  8. Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality academic research with minimal supervision.
  9. Record of publications and conference presentations relevant to the field.
  10. Team-oriented with a collaborative approach across disciplines.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills.
  12. Understanding of UNSW's values and commitment to relevant policies.
  13. Awareness of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to training.

For Lecturer (Level B):

  1. A PhD in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

  5. Evidence of teaching effectiveness and dedication to educational excellence.

  8. Demonstrated track record of impactful research with a focus on excellence and leadership.
