Small Business Insurance Specialist

The SME Underwriter plays a key role in the profitable growth of the business by underwriting small to medium renewal cases with less complex risk.
The primary objective is to deliver exceptional customer service, achieve premium growth and underwriting profitability in core segments.
Key Responsibilities:- Underwrite SME portfolio with focus on renewals and new business policies as required
- Act as first point of contact for SME underwriting related matters and issues, providing guidance and advice when necessary
- Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, brokers and distribution customers placing business with the organization
- Assist Regional Manager and Product and Underwriting Team in underwriting and managing SME portfolio of business
- Contribute to alignment of risk and compliance management practices within SME portfolio by sitting at first line of defence
- Proven underwriting capability within insurance sector
- Strong personal, written and verbal communication skills with ability to establish rapport and negotiate with key internal and external stakeholders
- Proven track record of meeting KPIs/business goals and targets
- Up to date knowledge in most aspects of general insurance including practical understanding of commercial insurance principles, policies, pricing, reinsurance, claims and risk management
