Job Overview

The role of a Senior Credit Director involves leading a team and overseeing credit decisioning and risk management to drive business success.

You will be responsible for effective leadership and day-to-day management of the Credit team, assessing and reviewing the loan portfolio, and supporting the Corporate Credit team in the annual review process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the Credit team and oversee daily operations.
  • Review and assess the loan portfolio; support the Corporate Credit team in the annual cash flow lending review.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage data analytics and technology to improve credit decisioning and loss mitigation.
  • Shape risk management approaches and contribute to a positive customer experience.
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications.
  • Previous experience as a Credit Director.
  • Leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional environment.
  • Business acumen and knowledge of the business lending market.
    • Experience managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Experience assessing commercial credit based on financial statements or non-traditional data.
    • Experience working with data in a risk or analytics role is advantageous.
    • Credit, risk, and sales experience via relevant roles.
    • Experience with finance products embedded in a point-of-sale environment is advantageous but not essential.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze financials to a high standard.
    • Attention to detail with investigative skills and ability to make logical, considered decisions.
    • Ability to communicate respectfully and succinctly with external and internal stakeholders.
    Additional Information
    • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of credit analysts focused on assessment of complex deals, foster a high-performance culture, provide coaching for staff development, and drive training to upgrade team competency.
    • Provide guidance to sales, relationship managers, and the credit team for deals presented for workshop and structuring where risk may be marginal.
      • Credit Analysis & Approval: Oversee credit analysis and decisioning of applications for credit limits; ensure recommendations align with risk appetite and protect position.
      • Assess and mitigate credit risks from individual deals and on a portfolio basis.
      • Approve loans outside delegation for Relationship Managers to support seamless customer experience, balancing risk and reward.
      • Engage with the Sales team for escalated loans and ensure outcomes align with risk appetite.
      • Resolve issues quickly to avoid potential loss and support business performance.
        • Compliance: Ensure compliance with policies and regulations; provide regular training and coaching on regulatory requirements; engage with customers/brokers to assess financial position and structure deals in line with risk appetite.
        • Use data and insights to create customer solutions within risk appetite.
          • Stakeholder Engagement: Regularly engage with internal and external stakeholders to improve credit function and processes; develop and maintain credit guidance and process documentation; work with data teams to develop reporting; recommend system and process improvements.
            • Working Relationships: Coordinate with Settlements, Sales, Collections, Product, Technology; collaborate with Risk/Workout teams.
