The National Centre for Reconciliation Practice is a pioneering initiative by Swinburne, dedicated to advancing national understanding and change in reconciliation. With a strong commitment to leadership and collaboration, the centre aims to develop community, industry, and academic understandings on significant reconciliation areas.

About the Scholarship

We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to work on a specific project related to the Australian reconciliation movement. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research while being closely integrated with key industry partners, including Reconciliation Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a comprehensive literature review in the field and develop an in-depth understanding of existing research and opportunities for new activities.
  • Develop a research plan in collaboration with the supervisory team, aligning with the centre's goals and objectives.
  • Collect and analyze data, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Work independently to undertake research activities, maintaining excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare written and oral research reports to explain research activities and outcomes, as well as submissions to peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
  • Meet milestone requirements and submit thesis according to the University's HDR Training Policy.
  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary research team, engaging with end-users, industry partners, and researchers from across the university.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Excellent analytical thinking, data analysis, and critical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary research team.
  • Demonstrated evidence of good oral and written communication skills.
  • Prior publications in relevant fields will be highly regarded.
  • Meets Swinburne's entry requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy.
  • Able to commence PhD candidature in early 2022.
