Job Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Health Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting and enhancing public health and environmental systems in Camden LGA.

  • This role requires a strong understanding of environmental health principles, coupled with substantial experience in monitoring and regulatory functions at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound professional judgment in complex situations, interpreting legislation and data to inform decisions.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting and enforcing relevant environmental and public health legislation.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of managing competing priorities and resolving conflict.
  • Current Class C driver's licence is required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections and enforcement activities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve public health and environmental outcomes.
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to achieve shared goals and objectives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental health or a related discipline.
  • Substantial experience in environmental health, monitoring, and regulatory functions at a senior level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reviewing and critically assessing complex development proposals and technical reports.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound professional judgment in complex situations.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in interpreting and enforcing relevant environmental and public health legislation.
