Environmental Health Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health Specialist to join our team.

This is a permanent full-time role with access to flexi-time and a commencing salary range from $98,485 - $104,514 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out scheduled inspections of licensed and registered premises while providing support, guidance, and coaching to direct reports.

They will deliver an efficient and effective public and environmental health service relating to food premises, legionella control, commercial and public-owned swimming pools, skin penetration, and onsite sewage management.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying Out Inspections: The successful candidate will carry out scheduled inspections of licensed and registered premises to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Providing Support and Guidance: They will provide support, guidance, and coaching to direct reports to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Delivering Public and Environmental Health Services: The specialist will deliver an efficient and effective public and environmental health service relating to food premises, legionella control, commercial and public-owned swimming pools, skin penetration, and onsite sewage management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualifications acceptable for membership of the Australian Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Considerable Experience: Considerable experience as an Environmental Health Officer or similar position.
  • Technical Skills: Extensive technical skills and expertise in interpreting relevant Local Government, Public Health, and Environmental Legislation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent customer service, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills and conflict resolution.
  • Supervisory Skills: Experience in supervision, training, mentoring, and coaching staff.
