Description:
The Public Health Unit is seeking an experienced and skilled public health physician to fill the role of Staff Specialist. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and support to the Public Health Unit, working collaboratively with other staff specialists and the PHU team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-based clinical, public health and program advice to support health protection activities in environmental health, immunisation, communicable disease control, and emergency preparedness.
- Implement health protection activities, including identifying, monitoring, and investigating matters of significant risk to public health, and coordinating appropriate responses.
Requirements:
- A current medical practitioner registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine (AFPHM) or other relevant specialist recognition.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practice of public health medicine, and ability to practice public health medicine to a high standard.
- Experience in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
