Nurse Unit Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Unit Manager to join our team at Mount Gambier and Districts Health Service. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for coordinating high-quality patient care and supporting our nursing staff in delivering exceptional health services.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate patient care delivery in the Private Ward, ensuring efficient patient flow and high-quality outcomes.
- Lead and mentor nursing staff, fostering professional development and reflective practice.
- Integrate evidence-based practices to improve patient care and service delivery.
- Manage resources effectively, including recruitment, staffing, leave management, and financial planning.
- Implement and monitor quality improvement processes and risk management strategies.
- Develop and maintain a learning environment, supporting ongoing education for nursing staff.
- Lead change initiatives and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of best practices.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding a current practicing certificate.
- A minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in nursing, with demonstrated competence in relevant practice areas.
- Proven leadership and management skills, including effective communication, conflict resolution, and team-building abilities.
- Experience in supervising students, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses/midwives.
- Ability to review and enhance models of care to ensure person- and family-centered approaches.
- Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Flexibility and creativity in addressing challenges within the clinical setting.
