About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse/Midwife to join our Surgical Ward team at Mount Gambier & District Health Service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess individual patient needs and develop tailored care plans.
  • Provide direct person-centered nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift-by-shift basis with increasing autonomy over time.
  • Implement and coordinate a variety of nursing interventions.
  • Provide health education, counseling, and rehabilitation programs to support patient recovery.
  • Mentor and support newer or less experienced staff, Enrolled Nurses, and student nurses.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge base.
  • Foster collaborative and productive relationships within the healthcare team.
About You

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse or Nurse/Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills, including problem-solving, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritize workloads, you will be creative, innovative, and flexible when approaching issues within a rural healthcare setting.
