Director of Mines Safety

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director to lead our WorkSafe Mines Safety Directorate. As the Director, you will be responsible for implementing a best-practice risk-based compliance program to the mineral exploration and mining industry.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct the WorkSafe Mines Safety Directorate, providing strategic direction and guidance to the team.
- Develop and implement a risk-based compliance program to ensure the safety of workers in the mineral exploration and mining industry.
- Provide advice to the WorkSafe Commissioner and Executive Leadership Group on the operations of the directorate.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and well-being in the industry.
- Lead a team of eight direct reports, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful delivery of the directorate's objectives.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in leading mining operations or inspectorate operations at a senior level.
- Proven ability to take responsibility, promote accountability, and motivate others to achieve agreed performance outcomes and cultural change.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in relation to work health and safety in one or more of the exploration, mining, extraction, or mineral processing sectors.
- Bachelor degree or higher qualification in engineering or science relevant to the role.
