About the Role

The Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety WA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Legislative Affairs to lead our team in developing and implementing effective consumer protection legislation and policy.

As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for providing high-level advice to the Department's leadership and the WA State Government on matters related to consumer protection and legislative reform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for legislative review and policy development projects
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of legal policy officers, policy officers, and project staff
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry groups, and community organizations
  • Provide expert advice on consumer protection legislation and policy to the Department's executive and the WA State Government
  • Identify and understand societal, political, and economic trends to inform policy development and legislative reform
Requirements
  • Substantial experience in legislative review and policy development, with a strong track record of delivering results
  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
