Director of Petroleum Safety and Hazardous Materials

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to lead our WorkSafe Petroleum Safety and Dangerous Goods Directorate. As the Director, you will be responsible for implementing best-practice risk-based compliance programs to the dangerous goods, explosives, major hazard facilities, petroleum safety, and geothermal energy industry sectors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership to the directorate, promoting strategies, policies, and systems that contribute to the strategic direction of the department.
- Develop and implement effective risk-based compliance programs to ensure the safety of workers and the community.
- Provide advice to the WorkSafe Commissioner and Executive Leadership Group on the operations of the directorate.
- Lead a team of five Managers and senior staff, motivating them to achieve agreed performance outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in leading petroleum or chemical processing operations or inspectorate operations at a senior level.
- Proven ability to take responsibility, promote accountability, and motivate others to achieve agreed performance outcomes and cultural change.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in relation to work health and safety management in the petroleum industry and/or chemical processing industry, process safety risk assessment.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of work health and safety laws and/or dangerous goods laws.
