The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to fill the position of Director WorkSafe Mines Safety. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in mining operations and a proven track record of promoting workplace health and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and direct the WorkSafe Mines Safety Directorate, implementing a best-practice risk-based compliance program for the mineral exploration and mining industry.
- Provide strategic advice to the WorkSafe Commissioner and Executive Leadership Group on the operations of the directorate.
- Develop and implement policies and systems that contribute to the strategic direction of the department.
- Lead a team of eight direct reports, motivating them to achieve agreed performance outcomes.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in leading mining operations or inspectorate operations at a senior level.
- Proven ability to take responsibility, promote accountability, and motivate others to achieve agreed performance outcomes and cultural change.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in relation to work health and safety in one or more of the exploration, mining, extraction, or mineral processing sectors.
- Bachelor degree or higher qualification in engineering or science relevant to the role.
