The Role

As a Pre-Sales Engineer, you will be the bridge between our technology and customers, effectively translating technical capabilities into real-world benefits. You will work closely with the sales, product, and engineering teams to understand customer needs, present tailored solutions, and ensure a smooth technical journey from first conversation to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the sales team with technical expertise during customer engagements and bid processes
  • Deliver compelling product presentations, demos, and proof-of-concept activities
  • Understand customer challenges and translate them into technical solutions using our products
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to provide feedback on customer requirements and market needs
  • Assist in preparing detailed technical proposals, documentation, and system configurations
  • Contribute to responses for tenders, RFIs, and RFPs
  • Represent us at trade shows, customer meetings, and industry events as a technical expert
What You'll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • A solid understanding of power systems, grid automation, or industrial monitoring solutions (knowledge of the rail sector is an advantage)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a customer-focused way
  • Experience working in a technical sales, solutions engineering, or applications engineering role
  • The ability to manage multiple opportunities and customer engagements simultaneously
  • A willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, and events
Desirable Experience

We are also looking for candidates with:

  • Experience in the utilities or energy sector (especially with DNOs or rail infrastructure providers)
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, IoT platforms, or grid-edge technologies
  • Knowledge of regulatory and technical standards in the UK power sector
  • A background in software or hardware systems integration
