Peak Nano seeks an innovative Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer with expertise in bringing new opto-mechanical products to market. The ideal candidate will have deep domain knowledge in designing, manufacturing, and testing imaging optics for harsh environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, analysis, and integration of precision opto-mechanical assemblies for optical systems.
  • Provide consistent guidance on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA) and Test (DFT) to support product development efforts.
  • Develop innovative mechanical solutions aligning with optical, thermal, and structural requirements.
  • Collaborate with optical designers, optomechanical designers, manufacturing engineers, and test engineers to define interface requirements and ensure cohesive product development.
  • Guide prototype builds and support optical and environmental performance testing to iterate and refine designs.
  • Lead design reviews, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and contribute to best practices in opto-mechanical engineering.
  • Document all aspects of design, including CAD models, drawings, and specifications, for manufacturing and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications:

Our ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field. They should also have at least 10 years of experience in opto-mechanical design and development, along with demonstrated experience with technical delivery of opto-mechanical products from ideation to launch.

  • Expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, NX), optical tolerancing and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Experience with environmental exposure tests and optical performance validation including shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, chemical and UV exposure.
