Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an innovative engineer to lead the design, analysis, and integration of precision opto-mechanical assemblies for optical systems. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise in designing, manufacturing, and testing imaging optics for harsh environmental conditions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading the design, analysis, and integration of precision opto-mechanical assemblies.
  • Providing consistent, proactive guidance on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA) and Test (DFT).
  • Developing innovative mechanical solutions that align with optical, thermal, and structural requirements.
  • Collaborating with optical designers, optomechanical designers, manufacturing engineers, and test engineers to define interface requirements.
  • Supporting product development efforts through prototype builds and performance testing.
  • Leading design reviews, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to best practices in opto-mechanical engineering.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field, along with 10+ years of experience in opto-mechanical design and development. Expertise in 3D CAD software, optical tolerancing, and design for manufacturability is essential. Experience with environmental exposure tests and optical performance validation is also required.

The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills and experience with product lifecycle management tools. Familiarity with optical design tools and systems integration is a plus. This is a mid-senior level position that offers a full-time employment opportunity.
