Peak Nano seeks a seasoned Principal Opto-Mechanical Engineer to drive innovation in designing, manufacturing, and testing imaging optics for harsh environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead precision opto-mechanical assembly design and integration for optical systems.
  • Provide guidance on Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly (DFA), and Test (DFT) to support product development.
  • Develop innovative mechanical solutions aligning with optical, thermal, and structural requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interface requirements and ensure cohesive product development.
  • Guide prototype builds, support performance testing, and refine designs.
  • Lead design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to best practices in opto-mechanical engineering.
  • Document design aspects, including CAD models, drawings, and specifications, for manufacturing and quality assurance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in opto-mechanical design and development.
  • Demonstrated experience with technical delivery of opto-mechanical products from ideation to launch.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD software, optical tolerancing, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Experience with environmental exposure tests and optical performance validation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical device industries.
  • Familiarity with optical design tools and systems integration.
  • Strong background in structural and thermal analysis techniques, including FEA.
  • Knowledge of materials science, adhesives, coatings, and environmental sealing for optics.
  • Strong project management skills and experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
