Job Overview

Sankalp Gold Coast is a well-established hospitality company in Australia, operating over 150 restaurants globally. We are seeking an experienced Cook/Chef to join our team at Sankalp Surfers Paradise | Queensland.

The successful candidate will be required to work late evenings, weekends, and public holidays. This is a permanent full-time position with opportunities for career growth and development.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Cook/Chef with at least 1 year of relevant experience and a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent. The ideal candidate should be an outstanding team player, helpful, reliable, and possess excellent communication skills.

The duties and responsibilities of this role include:

  • Familiarity with different types of meats and their cooking times;
  • Menu planning, estimating food requirements and costs, and ordering supplies;
  • Preparing food for cooking and adding appropriate seasoning;
  • Performing food quality inspections to ensure hygiene standards;
  • Aesthetic skills for arranging and presenting food in an appealing manner;
  • Carving and preparing different types of meats for boiling, frying, and steaming;
  • Mixing ingredients according to weight and type;
  • Operating big ovens and cooking ranges;
  • Performing preventative and general maintenance on kitchen equipment;
  • Handling cooking staff efficiently and directing them to ensure smooth kitchen functions;
  • FOLLOWING best hygiene and sanitation practices for quality food services;
  • Trying and testing new recipes to add new items to existing menus and demonstrating techniques;
  • Preparing specialized health food items;
  • Selecting and training staff, freezing and preserving foods;
  • Maintaining accurate inventory and records of food, supplies, and utensils;

The selected candidate will be based at Sankalp Indian Restaurant, Sankalp Surfers Paradise | Queensland, with a base annual salary range of $75,000 to $76,000 plus superannuation based on experience and skill set.
