Job Opportunity: Senior/Associate Botanist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced botanist to join our team. As a key member of our ecology team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and services in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality services and advice in your area of expertise to clients and colleagues in both office-based and fieldwork activities.
  • Participate and lead field survey programs focused on flora and vegetation surveys, including targeted surveys and vegetation mapping of plant community types in diverse environments across NSW.
  • Analyze botanical data and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
  • Interpret and apply environmental legislation to projects across various sectors.
  • Integrate your technical work into multidisciplinary assessments and project teams.
  • Make independent studies, analyses, interpretations, conclusions, and decisions and prepare reports outlining the findings of these studies.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff.
  • Travel to remote areas to conduct field survey programs.
  • Prepare tenders and proposals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in botany, ecology, environmental management, natural resources, or another related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in an ecological role in the environmental consulting sector or another equivalent role entailing undertaking ecological surveys and report production.
  • Ability to identify flora in NSW by sight and using keys.
  • BAM accreditation preferred, working towards accreditation with experience preparing/contributing to biodiversity assessment reports ('BARs') also considered.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of flora surveys and monitoring programs.
  • Strong data analysis, report writing, and computer skills.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
