Job Title: Financial Investigator

About Our Intelligence Group

We advise senior decision-makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia.

We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General's Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.

About the Role

Financial Investigators develop financial intelligence relating to suspect transactions, individuals, groups, companies, and assets linked to organised crime using various information sources including ACIC powers.

The role involves working in multi-disciplinary environments with Commonwealth, State, and Territory partner agencies to conduct financial investigations and identify recoverable profits of organised crime.

Closely liaising with domestic and international stakeholders is also part of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrated experience in financial investigations in law enforcement or regulatory agencies, or relevant private sector experience.
  • Knowledge and experience undertaking financial analysis for complex crimes like money laundering, tax evasion, fraud, proceeds of crime, unpaid tax recovery, supporting prosecution, and intelligence collection.
  • Develop highly developed verbal and written communication skills to prepare detailed reports and analyses of complex financial matters, providing quality advice and/or reports within required deadlines.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with partner agencies and contributing to a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintaining knowledge of legislation in a criminal investigative context and the ACIC's role and functions.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Able to complete the Diploma of Police Intelligence Practice.
  • Able to complete the Intelligence Analysis course.
  • An annual psychological assessment as part of designated high-risk roles.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, commerce, finance, or related fields.
  • Membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand, or working towards achieving it.
  • Qualifications or experience in Human Source Management.
