Assembly Technician Job Description

The role of Assembly Technician is a hands-on position that involves the assembly of aerospace mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic sub-systems. Working from technical drawings and adhering to strict quality requirements, this role ensures all components are accurately assembled to customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing and assembling aerospace components and sub-systems.
  • Installing aerospace fasteners, standoffs, rivets, and hardware to specification.
  • Applying adhesives, sealants, inks, and paint products as required.
  • Using shrink fitment techniques and precision tools.
  • Part marking in accordance with customer quality standards.
  • Supporting other team members and maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and technical documentation.

Requirements:

  • A trade qualification in engineering or manufacturing (Certificate III in Engineering or a Certificate in Aeroskills).
  • Hands-on experience in aerospace assembly.
  • Familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • A high attention to detail and ability to interpret 3D models.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, powered hand tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and ability to extract key measurement data from technical drawings.
  • Previous experience in aerospace component / system assembly (desirable).
  • Experience in aerospace MRO environment (desirable).
