Job Opportunity

This role combines hands-on paper conservation and team management. As a senior conservator, you will lead a team in treating a wide range of cultural and heritage objects on paper.

Job Description Summary

The role involves consulting with clients and colleagues to quote on and undertake all technical aspects of conservation, client liaison, disaster response, and project planning and implementation.

You will work closely with the director of fine arts conservation to write tenders and submissions for large jobs, coordinate smooth team functioning, and manage projects involving ongoing staff, casual staff, and contractors.

Other responsibilities include managing job budgets, time management, subcontractor liaison, disaster response, workplace health and safety in the lab, and report writing.

Key Responsibilities
  • High-level hands-on technical skills for a variety of project situations
  • Ability to make positive contributions in a team environment and also work independently
  • Experience in leading a small team and creating a positive work environment
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
