About the Role

This position combines hands-on preservation with team leadership for a diverse range of projects.

The successful candidate will oversee the Paper Preservation team, working on archival and library materials, maps, plans, posters, photographs, historic wallpapers, documents, books, and artworks on paper, including watercolors, gouache, prints, pastels, ink, pencil, and oil on paper, as well as mixed media works.

Responsibilities include consulting with clients and colleagues to quote on and undertake all technical aspects of preservation and client liaison, disaster response, project planning and implementation, job management, time management, subcontractor coordination, occupational health and safety in the lab, and report writing.

The ideal candidate will have 6-10 years' experience as a Paper Conservator, high-level technical skills, ability to make positive contributions in a team environment and work independently, experience leading a small team, strong organizational and time management skills, excellent attention to detail, sound knowledge of and commitment to occupational health and safety practices, and membership of the AICCM or equivalent professional organization.
