About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to join our Legal team. In this role, you will provide ER leadership and advice across every aspect of employment/industrial law, supporting the strategic direction of the business.

About the Team

Our Legal team is responsible for providing practical and commercial advice to help us navigate complex issues. With a deep understanding of Coles Group's goals and values, we work together to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ER advice for new business initiatives and projects
  • Manage the bargaining cycle for multiple and varied enterprise agreements, including strategy formation, planning, pre-negotiation, negotiation, implementation, and approval
  • Play an active and pivotal leading role in enterprise agreement negotiations
  • Undertake relevant advocacy, primarily at the Fair Work Commission, related to enterprise agreement bargaining, dispute resolution, and/or industrial action that has a collective impact
  • Monitor the external ER environment to identify key trends/issues that may impact Coles
  • Identify, manage, and support compliance work and regulatory authority matters
  • Identify, manage, and support legal changes that impact Coles' industrial environment
  • Primarily manage and engage with external trade unions, employer associations, and other relevant external parties
About You and Your Skills

We are looking for someone with strong proven experience in employee relations/employment law, including a legal and/or ER/IR qualification. You should have the ability to develop and implement strategic ER plans to assist Coles Group achieve its goals/business strategy.

Key skills and experience include:

  • Strong stakeholder management, internal networking potential, and influencing skills
  • Experience in negotiating enterprise agreements, including preparatory phases related to effective bargaining
  • Team player with demonstrated experiences in working with various stakeholders and varied business partners
