Indigenous Education and Community Liaison Officer
The University of Wollongong invites applications from dedicated and community-minded individuals for a role that will make a real impact in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
This position provides a meaningful opportunity to contribute to long-term change by supporting high school students on their journey to higher education.
You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating programs that engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, schools, and communities.
Your work will focus on raising aspirations, strengthening access to university, and supporting a culturally empowering transition into higher education.
You will lead school and community engagement activities, both on-campus and through outreach, while supporting the delivery of the University's Indigenous Admissions Program.
Working closely with the Future Student and Student Success teams at the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre, you'll help shape communication strategies, build relationships with key stakeholders, run recruitment events, and create content that promotes student engagement.
A key part of the role includes mentoring a team of Indigenous Student Ambassadors, overseeing their recruitment, training, and coordination to ensure successful program delivery throughout the year.
To thrive in this position, you'll bring strong cultural knowledge, experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and a background in educational outreach.
You'll be confident working independently, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively with schools, families, and community organisations.
A relevant degree or equivalent experience is required, along with strong organisational and digital skills.
The University of Wollongong is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and strives to be an employer of choice for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians.
