Leadership Opportunity in Indigenous Health Research and Curriculum Development

This role involves providing strategic direction in Indigenous Health research and curriculum development within the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership in Indigenous Health research and curriculum development in the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences (MIHS).
  2. Support and mentor academic staff; foster a culturally safe and collegial environment; support professional growth and academic excellence.
  3. Hold a key leadership position within the Ngarruwan Ngadju First Peoples Health and Wellbeing Research Centre and guide its strategic direction.
  4. Collaborate across faculties, research centres, and Indigenous communities to shape the future of Indigenous health at UOW.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. Strong track record in Indigenous health research, teaching and engagement.
  2. Experience supervising and mentoring academic staff and higher degree research students.
  3. Commitment to supporting Indigenous higher education and capacity-building.
  4. Proven leadership and strategic capabilities; experience leading Indigenous health initiatives; alignment with national health strategies.
  5. Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build collaborative relationships across academic, community and health service sectors.

The School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences offers programs including a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Trauma and Recovery Practice and a Master of Indigenous Health, along with accredited and non-accredited programs.
