Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Patient Services Assistant. This position plays a crucial part in providing non-clinical services, encompassing food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services, and retail services.

The Patient Services Assistant will be responsible for the effective provision of patient services support, including cleaning and patient lifting under the direction of nursing staff.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Unit cleaning
  • Transfer & cleaning of equipment
  • Delivery of patient meals
  • Patient transfers with use of equipment; bed movers and wheelchairs
  • Use of lifting machines
  • Assisting nursing staff as requested
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must possess:

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance qualification
  • Previous patient services assistant experience within a healthcare setting (desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of patient identification procedures
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written instructions and procedures
  • Able to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying, and manual handling
  • Excellent understanding of cleaning methodologies and infection control procedures
  • Ability to work with a cohesive team or individually to complete daily tasks
  • BASIC to intermediate digital literacy
