Job Title: Manager Operational Technology

Location: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney

Overview of the Role

This is a key leadership position within the Observing Systems and Operations Program providing specialist advice, direction and guidance on the observing infrastructure architecture and equipment.

The Operational Technology Lead will also actively engage with industry and stakeholders, including the science and engineering communities, to continuously improve observations infrastructure.

Drawing on their experience and knowledge, the Operational Technology Lead will be responsible for establishing capability, strategy and methods for providing the required observations for Bureau services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse team of specialists responsible for the development and design of engineering and technological solutions, incorporating level three support, on a range of technologies spanning from radars to rainfall stations, drifting buoys to dedicated observations and satellites to ships at sea so as to meet business needs.

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with related teams in Infrastructure Development and the National Operations of the Observing Systems and Operations Program, along with other business areas of the organisation.

  • Develop strategies and plans to improve operations and achieve organisational goals.
