Cloud Engineering Leader for AWS Region Services

We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineering Leader to join our team in Australia, supporting Operations in the region.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cross-functional teams, collaborating on cutting-edge services for customers across various industries and company sizes.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams and 7+ years of engineering experience, including knowledge of software development life cycles, coding standards, code reviews, and source control management.
As a System Development Manager, you will partner with product or program management teams to develop and manage multi-tier web services, ensuring seamless communication with users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
You will lead hiring, mentoring, and coaching Software Engineers to improve their skills, making them more effective product software engineers.
In this DevOps role, you will drive engineering deliverables through influence, manage repair requests in a high-volume environment, and respond to high-severity events. Regular presentations to senior leadership require synthesizing problems and solutions into simple and consumable manners.
You will also be responsible for data collection, analytics, and dashboard creation to help others identify the best paths for business improvement.
Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance is required, and relocation assistance may be offered to support your move.
**Key Responsibilities: **
- Develop and deploy operational tools to automate processes and reduce operational overhead
- Hire, Develop, and Mentor team members.
- Work with other engineers to build and manage massively scaled services
- Track the health of our services, identify and fix problems on complex systems with massive scale
- Collaborate with some of the leading minds in distributed systems
**Required Skills:**
- Knowledge of Linux, including distros, permissions, system logging, and auditing
- Familiarity with Git, Agile development, CICD, and development pipelines
- Experience with DNS tools (bind, host, dig, nslookup), runlevel management tools (systemd, rc.d, inittab, chkconfig), and system monitoring tools (top, *stat tools)
- Strong problem-solving abilities, backed by a deep understanding of distributed system design and delivery
**Salary Range:** $180,000 - $220,000 per annum, depending on experience.
