Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Biosecurity Officer to join our high-performing team in invasive species management. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leading preventative approaches to reduce the impacts of priority invasive pest species.

  1. Develop and implement plans to prevent and respond to biosecurity incursions that threaten the environment, communities, and the economy.
  2. Collaborate with team members to deliver strategic and targeted action to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.

Invasive plants and animals have significant economic, social, and environmental impacts on Queensland. Your efforts as Senior Biosecurity Officer will contribute to protecting and enhancing the state's landscapes, preventing and reducing priority pest impacts on-ground.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead the implementation of biosecurity strategies to prevent and manage invasive species.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to share knowledge, expertise, and resources to achieve biosecurity objectives.
  • Contribute to the development and review of policies and procedures to ensure effective biosecurity management.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A degree in a relevant field such as biology, ecology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in biosecurity management, invasive species control, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
