We are looking for a Principal Biosecurity Officer to join our high-performing team in Invasive Plants and Animals:- Lead a team of biosecurity officers to protect Queensland from invasive biosecurity threats in partnership with stakeholders.
- Regulate the Biosecurity Act 2014 to prevent the introduction, keeping, and movement of invasive species.
Biosecurity Queensland plays a vital role in securing the state's agricultural prosperity and preserving and protecting the health of our environment and economy. We are dedicated to safeguarding both human and animal health by preventing and mitigating plant and animal pests and diseases. We work tirelessly to uphold high animal welfare standards and maintain access to interstate markets, critical for Queensland's thriving primary industries. Biosecurity Queensland monitors and regulates the application of agricultural and veterinary chemicals, ensuring their safe and compliant use.
Invasive Plants and Animals (IPA) significantly affect the environment, agricultural production, infrastructure, human health, and our way of life. The IPA program directs, facilitates, and delivers strategic and targeted actions to reduce the impact of invasive species in Queensland.
As our Principal Biosecurity Officer, you will provide leadership that protects and enhances invasive species management in Queensland. With Queensland affected by more biosecurity incursions than any other Australian state or territory, your efforts will be crucial in helping the government prevent, respond to, and recover from invasive species threats to human health, social amenity, the environment, and the economy.

It is a requirement for all Biosecurity Queensland positions to have a criminal history check completed.
