About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished AI leader to drive the development, implementation and adoption of AI strategy and best practices at Macquarie University.

As a key member of our Information Technology team, you will lead and manage the governance, integration and adoption of AI initiatives across the University, including managing and nurturing relationships with Executives and University stakeholders involved in the development and deployment of artificial intelligence solutions.

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their practical applications, as well as a strategic mindset to align AI initiatives with the University's overarching goals.

You will be responsible for driving forward-thinking AI initiatives that position our organisation as a leader in AI research, education, and application. This includes developing and maintaining a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy for AI requirements and projects, identifying key stakeholders across faculties, departments and external partners, understanding their interests, influence, and expectations, and addressing any issues/concerns promptly.

In addition, you will oversee the development of AI-driven educational tools and platforms to enhance teaching and learning experiences, partner with technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of AI capabilities and limitations, and stay informed about the latest developments in AI technology and industry trends.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, the ability to merge technical expertise with strategic vision, and a methodical, consultative approach to their work. They will also be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adept at working as part of a team.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a robust background in the education sector, a deep understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and their practical applications, and a proven track record of driving forward-thinking AI initiatives.

Additionally, you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to build strong relationships with stakeholders, and be able to articulate complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
