About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Controller to join our team at Alexander Appointments. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial management and reporting to support decision-making by senior management and the board.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management and Reporting: Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making by senior management and the board.
  • Project Cost Management: Track and analyse project costs and variances against budgets for all land subdivision projects.
  • Financial Documentation: Review and approve financial documentation related to land acquisitions, contracts, and other project expenditures.
  • Stakeholder Management: Substantial interaction with external stakeholders, including lenders and legal professionals, to secure financing and navigate the legal complexities associated with land acquisition and development.
  • Tax Planning: Manage and oversee all aspects of tax planning, including GST, land tax, capital gains tax, and other property-related taxes.
  • Internal Audit: Develop and implement internal audit procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller with a strong background in financial management and reporting. You will have a CPA or CA qualification and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably within the property development or real estate sector.

You will have strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation laws, and regulatory requirements, as well as experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. You will also have excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
