Job Description

Casdg is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Manager to oversee the financial operations of our property development company.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, strategic planning, and property development. They will be responsible for managing the financial interests of our diverse portfolio, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and relevant tax laws.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Management and Reporting
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and relevant tax laws.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in alignment with company objectives.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making by senior management and the board.
  • Develop Dashboards for senior management team.
Project Cost Management
  • Track and analyse project costs and variances against budgets for all land subdivision projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to monitor project financial performance, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Review and approve financial documentation related to land acquisitions, contracts, and other project expenditures.
Lender and Legal Coordination
  • Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and lenders to secure project financing, including land and construction facilities.
  • Collaborate with lawyers and legal advisors to ensure compliance with legal requirements, including due diligence for land acquisition, subdivision approvals, and contract negotiations.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of financial documents and reports required by lenders and legal entities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with lenders and legal professionals to facilitate smooth transaction processes and mitigate risks.
Tax Planning and Compliance
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of tax planning, including GST, land tax, capital gains tax, and other property-related taxes.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements.
Internal Audit and Compliance
  • Develop and implement internal audit procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular audits of financial records, transactions, and processes to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present internal audit reports to senior management and the board.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, including financial reporting standards, taxation laws, and industry-specific regulations.
System and Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead the development and integration of new financial software or tools to streamline reporting, analysis, and project management.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure seamless integration of financial systems with other business operations.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a key financial advisor to the CEO, Finance Director, and senior management team.
  • Maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information and insights to support stakeholder communications and reporting.
Team Leadership and Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure proper training, development, and succession planning within the finance department.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or CA qualification required.
  2. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a senior finance role, preferably within the property development or real estate sector.
  3. Prior experience with or in a mid-tier accounting firm is highly advantageous.
  4. Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation laws, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  6. Demonstrated experience in dealing with lenders, securing financing, and managing legal processes related to property development.
  7. Proficient in financial software and ERP systems.
  8. Excellent communication, negotiation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  9. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders.
