Operational Readiness Specialist

Purpose of the Role

The State Operation Directorate plays a pivotal role across departments, ensuring operational readiness to fulfill responsibilities outlined in key legislation.

Incident Management Capability is responsible for developing future needs for the organisation and delivering emergency management strategies through effective command and control of tactical, operational, and strategic IM functions. The team contributes to reviewing the IM Training Framework based on Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) principles, ensuring flexibility and scalability to manage all hazards.

Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be part of a small multidisciplinary team with RFSQ operational experience and high-level understanding of AIIMS doctrine and IM functional roles/responsibilities. You will contribute to review, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, systems, and communications to meet business objectives, along with supporting administrative functions of the unit.

Key Responsibilities

This role involves:

  • Preparing internal communications and project status updates and reports
  • Maintaining document management systems, filing, and financial administration
  • Contributing to design, development, evaluation, and review of training curriculum, content, and materials
  • Delivering training and instructing, mentoring, and/or assessing personnel undertaking IM development programs/courses
  • Assisting in research and evaluation of operational activities, including post-incident analysis
  • Contribute to development and implementation of best practice strategies to enhance service delivery and operational capability

You will ensure IM capability development information is shared between regions, other emergency services, and agencies through timely communication and liaison.
