Groundsperson Job Description

Maintain course, tracks and grounds to ensure presentation in optimal condition.

  • Undertake general maintenance work including laboring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions.
  • Operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, harrows, brush cutters, hedgers and push mowers.
  • Conduct routine turf, synthetic, artificial and other surface maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Main¬taining the course proper, training tracks and grounds at racecourses.
  • Undertaking general maintenance work including laboring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions.
  • Operating plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, harrows, brush cutters, hedgers and push mowers.
  • Conducting routine turf, synthetic, artificial and other surface maintenance.
  • Working hours: 8:15am – 4:45pm.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management.
  • General operational and mechanical maintenance skills.
  • Appropriate licenses to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts.
  • Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Solid literacy and numeracy skills.
