About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our collaborative and hardworking City of Sydney contract team based in Sydney CBD as a Senior SHEQ Professional.

The role integrates within the office and maintenance teams, and you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team promoting a positive and generative approach to health and safety, environment, and quality functions across the organisation.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the implementation of Safety Management Plans across the project.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislations, regulations, and standards and that all project activities are undertaken safely, with suitable frameworks and documentation.
  • Leading investigations of safety-related incidents or issues and providing recommendations through the contract leadership team.
  • Implementing processes to ensure communication and compliance with all SHEQ policies.
  • Overseeing employee rehabilitation, including Return to Work planning.
  • Ensuring risk assessments and risk registers are developed and maintained.
  • Embedding Ventia's Critical Risk Protocols in the project through leaders.
  • Promoting a safe workplace with zero impact on the environment.
  • Utilizing data to enable informed decisions on asset disposal, renewal, and planned maintenance programs.
  • Developing and delivering safety-related training when required, including new starter induction, toolbox talks, and pre-start meetings.
About You

We are looking for a Senior SHEQ Professional with:

  • Cert IV Workplace/Occupation Health and Safety, Environmental, or Quality Equivalent.
  • Training and relevant experience in incident investigation.
  • Internal Auditor Qualification.
  • Demonstrated senior leadership experience in safety/environment/quality or a relevant industry role.
  • Experience in managing safety audit programs to ensure effective system compliance.
  • Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements, and ISO standards within a utility or infrastructure project environment.
  • Maintaining stakeholder relationships using appropriate influence and negotiation.
